About Color Imaging
Who We Are
At Color Imaging, our toner products are meticulously developed and formulated by a dedicated team of experienced chemists. These products undergo a stringent qualification process to ensure that they closely emulate the performance of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) consumables and achieve optimum compatibility with the devices they are designed for.
Development and Testing
Our development process relies on extensive and detailed testing within our facilities. We carefully select raw materials to match the characteristics of OEM toner. Our products may use conventional, mechanically rounded toner or chemically produced particles. Many recent products also incorporate carriers within the toner cartridge.
Benchmarking: The process begins with detailed measurements and monitoring of the system’s performance using OEM toner. This sets the benchmark for evaluating our compatible toner under development.
Formulation and Adjustment: During development, various toner formulas are assessed until a satisfactory product is formulated. Color hues and densities are adjusted using a “Color Eye” and Densitometer to match the OEM toner.
Extensive Testing: The finalized toner formula undergoes rigorous testing to ensure full compatibility and consistent performance over time. Testing is conducted on multiple machines and models intended for the toner.
Print Quality and Stability: We monitor print quality and image density to ensure stability throughout the life of major machine components (Photoconductor, Image Transfer Belt, Developer, etc.). We also monitor for toner dusting and component wear.
Paper and Stress Testing: Our toners are tested on a range of paper weights, including stress tests with heavy coverage originals, long duplex print runs, and 11”x17” paper.
Environmental Testing: We operate our systems in an Environmental Chamber to simulate low and high humidity and temperature conditions.
Yield and Production Consistency
- Toner Yield: Yield is measured according to OEM specifications (typically 5% document coverage). We adjust the toner content to ensure our products match OEM specified yield.
- Manufacturing Batches: Three consecutive trial manufacturing batches are tested for performance consistency before full-scale production begins.
Cartridge Compatibility
Our compatible toner is tested with both OEM and compatible cartridges. The compatible cartridges also undergo a series of tests to ensure satisfactory toner flow and mechanical and electronic operation, with no error codes or anomalies.
Forward and Reverse Compatibility
Color Imaging compatible toner products are tested for both forward and reverse compatibility with OEM consumables. This ensures seamless switching between OEM and Color Imaging toner without disrupting the process or deteriorating print quality. However, we cannot guarantee compatibility with every other compatible product in the market; our toner is warranted to be compatible only with the OEM.
Warranty and Support
Color Imaging toner products are backed by a one-year warranty, and we provide technical support to our customers.
